Welcome to Reception Class

Settling in to our setting never seems to be a problem as we have already built up good relationships through home vists and 4 half day classroom visits.

In reception class we initially opperate on a nursery ethic but gradually through the year we introduce curriculum subjects and build up towards the more formal routines of Key Stage 1, in readiness for the move up to Year 1. We offer lots of fun activities that fulfil the Foundation Stage requirements, including outdoor toys and at least 2 dozen daily classroom self servicing activities. We also have one of the best views in school, overlooking the duck pond, with large picture windows.

Throughout the year we take walks around the pond and parts of the village close to school. We also have external visits to the annual Pantomime at the Bradford Alhambra theatre and to an Educational Farm.

We treat all children as individuals and encourage them to devlop at their own rates. Having said that, most children leave us working at above average levels in reading and writing and computer skills, and within expected levels of mathematics and science and other subjects.
